HYDERABAD: A day after issuing notices to candidates of different political parties from Musheerabad Assembly constituency for setting up banners, posters, flags and flexi-boards at various places, Election Returning Officer M. Rajeswar Rao said that expenditure incurred on removing them would be collected from the contestants. At a meeting with representatives of different political parties here on Monday, he took a serious note of the Congress, TRS, BJP and CPI (M) candidates failing to remove posters and banners even after issuing notices to them. “As we removed flags, posters and banners, the expenditure will be proportionately collected from the candidates. We also videographed the places where such material was used,” said Mr. Rao. He refuted the criticism of BJP and CPI (M) representatives that election officials were showing partiality towards some political parties. Mr. Rao advised the leaders to submit the list of polling agents by May 23 for verifying their antecedents. Election Observer (General) Purakayastha made it clear that the Election Commission would not tolerate any kind of code violation. “It’s our responsibility to conduct a fair and free election for which the cooperation of the candidates is essential,” he said.
