Uphaar managers granted bail
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Monday granted bail to cinema hall managers Ajit Chaudhary and N.S. Chopra in the Uphaar fire tragedy case. Granting bail to the two, Justice H.R. Malhotra said they would be released subject to their furnishing bail bonds of Rs. 25,000 each with one surety of a like amount.
Mr. Justice Malhotra further directed them to take permission of the Registrar General of the Court for going abroad for a month. To go on a foreign trip for more than a month they would have to seek permission of the High Court, the bail order said.
However, the Court refused to grant bail to gate keeper of the hall Manmohan Uniyal and three former employees of the then Delhi Electric Supply Undertaking (DESU) A.K. Gera, B.M. Satija and Veer Singh saying that the charges against them were serious.
