dated May 21, 1958: Broadcasting in Asia

The Second Asian Broadcasters Conference which opened in Tokyo on May 19 elected Mr. B.P. Bhatt, Deputy Director-General, All India Radio, New Delhi, its Vice-Chairman. The three-day conference which aims at promoting goodwill among the people of Asia through the medium of broadcasting is being attended by representatives from thirteen Asian countries and observers from the United Nations. Addressing the conference, Mr. Bhatt expressed the hope that the conference would make a “positive approach” to their common problems so that they could be placed before international bodies.
