CHENNAI: UST Global, a leading provider of end-to-end IT services and BPO solutions with its headquarters in California, announced the opening of its new global facility here. The centre was inaugurated by David T. Hopper, Consul General, U.S. Consulate on Tuesday. Addressing presspersons here, Arun Narayanan, Chief Operating Officer of the company said the 43,500-sq. ft. facility, located at the Suntech Park on the Old Mahabalipuram Road, with an investment of $12 million would accommodate 900 employees. The company had two more facilities in Chennai and overall the Chennai facilities would cover 1.12 lakh sq. ft., he said. According to Ramakrishnan Narayanan, Head, Chennai Operations, the growth achieved by the company in 2007 had led to the need for expanding its software development operations in Chennai. “The Chennai centre will leverage the diverse skill sets of the company’s top notch associates while attracting new, but equally high calibre IT professionals within the area”, he said. The company has a centre in Thiruvananthapuram with a team of 3,500 employees, and in Kochi with 200 employees. It also has plans to move into Bangalore shortly. Besides, it has a big team of software professionals working in 150 clients’ locations in the U.S. The company derives 60 per cent of its revenues from retail and healthcare and the balance from other services including manufacturing, transportation and media and entertainment.
