South Zone in driver’s seat

KOCHI: South Zone, with fine performances from Renjith (52), Nithin Jacob (53) and medium-pacers Shyam Chander (three for 13) and Rahul Ramanan (two for nine), was in a commanding position against North on the opening day of their three-day match in the Kerala State under-16 inter-zone cricket championship at the St. Paul’s College Ground, Kalamassery, on Tuesday.

After making 234 in its first innings, South had North in big trouble at 25 for five at close.

The scores: South 234 in 78.3 overs (Navaneeth 34, Renjith 52, Nithin Jacob 53, Rahul Das three for 33) v North 25 for five in 12 overs (Shyam Chander three for 13). — Principal Correspondent
