Death toll in liquor tragedy rises to 37
Special Correspondent
Hosur: The toll in the illicit liquor tragedy in Tamil Nadu rose to 37.
Eleven more persons have been admitted to the Hosur and Denkanikottai government hospitals with complaints of blurred vision.
The liquor tragedy at Binnamangalam is the worst ever in the State after the Shoolagiri incident in 1998 in Krishnagiri district which claimed the lives of 46 persons. An alert has been sounded through tom-toms to villagers who had consumed the killer brew to go to the nearest hospital.
Though fresh cases have been reported from Hosur and Thally regions, the police are yet to confirm that they are related to consumption of illicit liquor.
