KHAMMAM: The Communist Party of India (CPI) State secretary K. Narayana on Tuesday appealed to the Maoists to set free the Left party workers kidnapped from the tribal habitations in Bhadrachalam division. Addressing a news conference here along with the party district secretary, Kunamneni Sambhasiva Rao and T. V. Chowdhury, he said that the violence unleashed by the Maoists targeting the Left party workers in the area would serve no genuine purpose. The Left parties and their cadres were committed to the cause of the common man. By targeting the Left party workers the Maoists were playing into the hands of the ruling party. The CPI leader pointed out that the Left party fought against the Salwa Judum campaign that created a deep divide between the tribal communities in Chhattisgarh.
