Accused in Staines murder freed

BHUBANESWAR: Sudarshan Hansda alias Chenchu, the only juvenile accused in the murder of Australian Missionary Graham Stewart Staines and his two minor sons, was released from a reformatory home in Angul.

Though the jail term of Chenchu, who had been sentenced to 14 years by a juvenile court, was reduced to three years by a local court on April 30, he was set free only on Tuesday as another case was pending against him.

Following acquittal in the case relating to abetting escape of two inmates of the reformatory home, Chenchu was set free and taken to his native place in Manoharpur in Keonjhar district. — PTI
