Sonia’s tribute

NEW DELHI: Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday expressed her “sadness” at the death of famous playwright and screenplay writer Vijay Tendulkar.

“Through his works, Tendulkar brought into our consciousness issues of social justice, political violence and gender equality with unforgettable power, eloquence and empathy. His writings form an invaluable and immortal legacy which will live on to enrich and illuminate the world of Indian art and culture forever,” she said in a letter to his daughter Tanuja .
