Freedom fighters honoured Sudheeran seeks probe into land deals Kozhikode: A District Congress Committee (DCC) conference, which began on Sunday, concluded on Wednesday. KPCC vice-president Mullappally Ramachandran inaugurated the valedictory function. Inaugurating a meeting to honour freedom fighters and senior leaders of the party, party leader V.M. Sudheeran demanded that an Assembly committee should investigate the land deals during the tenure of the LDF government. ‘God men’ were hobnobbing with the land mafia and were cunning enough to get their things done from the government. He said that there were efforts to bring back the mineral sand mining project which the previous UDF government had dropped. This government was selling public land at a very low rate, he alleged. He said the ruling parties were quarrelling among themselves on the food security plan issue. A total of 15 freedom fighters, including M.P. Kunhiraman, G.K.Paithal, Palakandy Imbichiahamed, Panachikunnummal Beerankutty and Abraham Panakkal, were honoured on the occasion. More than a dozen senior leaders of the party were also honoured. Replying to the felicitation, Palakandy Imbichiahamed said that Congress need to be purified and strengthened now. He wondered whether there was governance in the State. K.C. Abu, DCC president, presided.
