Land tax accounts scrutinised

ARIYALUR: Land tax accounts in several villages in the taluks of Ariyalur, Senthurai and Udayarpalayam were scrutinised by top officials on Tuesday and Wednesday as part of the Jamabandhi that would continue for two more days.
Collector R. Sudalaikannan visited villages in Senthurai taluk. On Tuesday, he visited the revenue villages of Ananthavadi, Unjini, Maruvathur, Periyakurichi, Vanjinapuram, Namankulam, Makkambadi, Senthurai.
Residents of these villages submitted 539 petitions seeking land and house pattas. For 57 applicants, the pattas were sanctioned on the spot.
On Wednesday, the Collector inspected the land tax accounts in the revenue villages of Sirugalathur, Ponparappi, Nagalkuzhi, Paranam, Kilimanglam, Irumbulikurichi, Keelamaaligai, Pilakurichi and Sirukadambur.
Of the 299 petitions pertaining to pattas in these villages, the formalities for handover of 184 pattas were fulfilled on the spot, according to a communication from the district administration.
