BCCI says ‘yes’ to Gavaskar’s request
Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has agreed to give the 1983 Prudential World Cup to Sunil Gavaskar for it to be displayed at a media conference to be held in the first week of June.
Gavaskar has scheduled a series of events to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of the Indian team’s victory over the West Indies in the final at Lord’s.
``Ten days ago Sunil Gavaskar requested the BCCI if the Prudential Cup could be given for display at the media conference and we had no hesitation in saying ``yes” to him. I told him that the Prudential Cup represents achievement by the Indian team in 1983 and the BCCI would gladly give the Cup to him for display,” said Prof. Ratnakar Shetty, Chief Administrative Officer, BCCI. — Special Correspondent
