Arasaradi beats Rising Sun

Madurai: A half century by Meenakshisundaran (56) helped Arasaradi Cricket Club defeat Rising Sun Cricket Club by 15 runs and enter the semifinals of the V.V. Ramachandran memorial Trophy district-level Twenty-20 cricket tournament on Wednesday.

The scores (Quarterfinals): Arasaradi CC 152 for five in 20 overs (Prabu 33, Meenakshisundaram 56) bt Rising Sun CC 137 in 20 overs (Srinivasan 44); Olympus CC 109 in 19 overs (Arunkumar 30, Sonai three for 19) bt Asian Sports CC 76 in 183 overs (Anbu three for nine).

Sun Sports Club, Dindigul, stormed into the final of the 32nd annual Vinodh Kumar memorial trophy State-level football tournament, organised by AKP Sports Club, defeating Nehru Youth Football Club, Vikramasingapuram, 4-1 at Sivakasi on Wednesday.

Murugan (twice), Siva and Jaffer scored for Sun Sports Club while Ramesh scored Nehru’s goal.
