CHENNAI: Striker Jagan of ICF has been named captain of the Tamil Nadu team for the Santosh Trophy National football championship to be hosted by Jammu and Kashmir from May 25. The team was finalised after a two-week camp held at the St. Joseph’s College of Engineering campus from May 6 to 20.
The selection was open to players from the senior division, first division and district teams. In addition, two players who play outside the State had come in on ‘nativity rule.’ Two others — Rajesh (S. Railway) and Auxiano (ICF) — were away at the Indian Railway camp and will report directly at Jammu. The other members: Goalkeepers: Douglas Ponraj (Tuticorin Port Trust) and T.J. Edwinraj (HAL Bangalore). Defenders: Sumanraj, Sathish Kumar (both IB), A. Selvendran (Nethaji), Udayasuriyan (Madras Eagles), K. Sathish (Nethaji), Sathish (SBI) and Karthick (ICF). Midfielders: C.T. Anish (SBI), S. Santhakumar, Parthiban (both IB), K. Chinniah (SAI), T. Dhadeus (ICF). Strikers: P.C. Riju, C.S. Sabith (SBI), R.P.
