Homestay to open today at Pilikula Nisargadhama

Staff Correspondent

MANGALORE: Pilikula Nisargadhama, on the outskirts of the city, is set to have another attraction. A 5,000-sq ft, two-storeyed, six-bedroom, fully-furnished mansion, Urban Retreat. It will work on the homestay concept and will be thrown open to the public on Thursday.

Announcing this at a press conference here on Wednesday, the promoters of the project, entrepreneur couple Sonali and Suresh Mathais exuded confidence at the prospect of the new initiative. The couple have been in the tourism industry for the last six years and own “Nature Nirvana”, a homestay in Chikmagalur, as well as “The Great Outdoors,” an island resort in Karwar.

Target

Talking about their latest venture, Mr. Mathais said that the mansion was targeted at the middle income group. “This is for the leisurely tourist,” he said, adding that the place was furnished to showcase the culture of coastal Karnataka.

Ms. Sonali said that package trips would be organised for guests staying at “Urban Retreat” where they would be taken to local tourist spots. She also said that the venue could be used by medical tourists.
