‘Telangana sentiment shifted to Congress’

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The Congress has claimed that the Telangana sentiment which was identified with the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) had shifted to it, going by the results of elections to the Secunderabad Cantonment Board.

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee spokesman B. Kamalakar Rao told a press conference here on Wednesday that the results had shown that people who supported separate Telangana no longer favoured the TRS. They backed the Congress, he claimed. Mr. Rao said the Congress-supported candidates had won six of the eight wards of the board, bringing cheer to party activists.

The results gave a head start to Congress in the run up to byelections.
