Girl ‘drowned’ in swimming pool

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: The Vanasthalipuram police are inquiring into the alleged drowning of a seven-year-old girl, Sneha, in a local swimming pool on Wednesday.

Despite inquiries till late in the night, the police did not get any complaint from the girl’s parents. There was no intimation from the corporate hospital, where the girl was declared brought dead, about any medico legal case either.

It is alleged that the girl, along with her brother, was learning swimming in the pool in the evening when she drowned. Sneha fell unconscious by the time the swimming pool staff rescued her. She was rushed to the corporate hospital where doctors pronounced her dead.

“We don’t know why the girl’s family members failed to lodge a complaint. The matter is under inquiry,” the Vanasthalipuram Inspector Chandrashekhar said.
