DAT urges special package
Staff Reporter
TIRUPUR: The Dyers Association of Tirupur (DAT) has urged the Centre to extend a special package to release 60 per cent of the total project cost as grant to dyeing and bleaching units of Tirupur to attain zero liquid discharge.
A delegation led by its president S. Samiappan and secretary K. Krishnan met Union Minister of State for Statistics and Programme Implementation G.K. Vasan here recently. In a memorandum, they said the dyeing units have been constructing textile effluents recycling units to attain zero effluent discharge, first of its kind in the world to protect environment, at a cost of Rs.800 crore. They said the CETPs could not be completed in the project without the receipt of grant at the earliest.
