Training programme in folk arts

ERODE: The Commissioner for Art and Culture of the Government of Tamil Nadu has called for applications for a three-month training programme in folk arts that wilbe held in Chennai.

A release from the Erode Collectorate says the training will be provided in Devarattam, Thorpavaikoothu, Oyelattam, Poikalkuthirai, Thappattam, Bommalattam, Karagam, Kavadi, Therukoothu and Marabu-vazhi Isai Nadakam.

The candidates will have to bear the expenses for the programme, the release says and adds that the Government will provide Rs. 500 a month as stipend at the end of the programme. The release further says that only 20 persons will be selected for training in an art form and that a candidate can get trained in only one art form.

Interested persons should include name, age, education, address, phone number, art in which training is sought, experience in the art chosen, if any and training in other art, if any and apply to the Commissioner of Art and Culture, Greenways Road, Chennai 600 028 on or before May 26.
