Congress harping on development without achieving it TRS merely pursuing its political ambitions, he says Kakinada: Senior TDP leader Yanamala Ramakrishnudu has exuded confidence that the people of Telangana will vote for the party in a majority of seats in the ensuing by-elections. “The failure of the Congress and the TRS to keep their promise on statehood gives the TDP a clear advantage at the hustings,” he said at a press conference here. The ruling party was harping on “development” without any major achievement to its credit, while the TRS was merely pursuing its political ambitions. “The TDP is thus well placed to defeat the Congress and its former ally the TRS.” ‘Power-hungry’Mr. Ramakrishnudu said that the Congress and the TRS were craving for power and they never cared for the people’s welfare. The Congress continues to make false claim that Telangana witnessed unprecedented development during its regime. The TRS had been pursuing its single-point political agenda of forming a separate State without ever sparing a thought for its real development. It could even get a special financial package sanctioned for Telangana when it was a member of the UPA Government. It continued to harp on statehood issue only to derive electoral mileage, he added. The TDP leader alleged that the government was trying to sell away valuable lands in the State to ruling party loyalists. Some influential people from Kadapa were said to be keen on usurping lands in Kakinada meant for port-related activities. Similarly, the Reliance Industries was planning to capture vast tracts of the hinterland to become a monopolistic entity. The TDP would not tolerate their overtures. Mr. Ramakrishnudu said he would get certain land transactions examined by the Public Accounts Committee in his capacity as its chairman to ensure that public properties were not sold away to real estate businesses. Mee KosamParty president N. Chandrababu Naidu would be visiting East Godavari district from June 7 to 10 as part of the Mee Kosam tour, which was aimed at knowing the people’s problems. He would our the Assembly constituencies between Sakhinetipalli and Tuni in the first phase. District party president and MLC N. Chinna Rajappa, former ministers Metla Satyanarayana Rao and Chikkala Ramachandra Rao were among those present.
