No recovery of compensation

Sangareddy: Secretary to Government (Protocol) R. M. Gonela in a press release on Wednesday stated that compensation paid to claimants of untraced victims of Gulf war would not be recovered.

The United Nations Compensation Commission (UNCC) Geneva awarded compensation to 8,615 untraced Indian claimants of victims of the Gulf war 1990-1991. During the period of exercise UNCC conducted an internal audit and found that in approximately 8,500 cases the UNCC had awarded compensation more than what the claimants deserved.
