Held on uxoricide attempt charge
A 40-year-old man on Thursday reportedly made an attempt to kill his wife in a house in Moghalrajapuram where she was working as a domestic maid.
The Machavaram police said Gorla Jayalakshmi, 36, a resident of Nimmathota centre, went to the house of Maganti Srinivasa Rao in Moghalrajapuram, where she was working as a domestic maid. The police charged Jayalakshmi’s husband Nagaraju, a daily labourer, with attacking Jayalakshmi and slitting her neck with a knife.
Family members of Srinivasa Rao caught Nagaraju and handed him over to the police. Jayalakshmi was rushed to the Government General Hospital, where her condition is stable. A case was registered under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC.
