MACHILIPATNAM: Minister for Housing Botcha Satyanarayana on Thursday said there was no dearth of funds for providing necessary infrastructure and facilities in colonies where houses were built under Indiramma programme. The Minister inaugurated a housing colony in Kalapatnam village of Gudur mandal near here on Thursday. On the occasion, he said all eligible people, who could not apply for a house under Indiramma programme during first and second phases, would be allotted houses in the third phase. The beneficiaries brought to his notice that Rs. 5,000 sanctioned for levelling low lying areas in the colony was not sufficient. They requested him to sanction internal roads, drinking water facilities and power supply to the colony. Responding to it, the Minister asked the officials to prepare estimates and begin the works. He reminded them that there was a provision for district Collector to spend up to Rs.10 lakhs on basic amenities in Indiramma colonies. An amount of Rs. 6.28 lakhs required for laying electricity lines would be released immediately, he added. The Minister attended a slew of programmes in Guduru, Pedana, Bantumulli and Krutthivennu mandals of Malleswaram Assembly segment. He laid a foundation stone for a bridge, which would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 72 lakhs in Kuduru village in Pedana mandal. The existing bridge caved in recently, and Malleswaram MLA Booragadda Vedavyas took the initiative for commencing the reconstruction works within a month. Mr. Vedavyas said Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy sanctioned Rs. 1 crore for laying a road and the works would begin very soon. Krishna district Collector Shailaja Ramaiyer and several elected representatives were present.
