Tribal students attend summer camp

Aimed at developing their extra-curricular skills

KOLLI HILLS: In order to develop extra-curricular skills among tribal students, MALCO organised a summer camp here on Thursday.
More than 300 students participated in the camp. M. Kannan, Manager (Mines), MALCO, inaugurated the programme.
He said that one of the main objective of MALCO’s social initiative was to develop the educational standard of tribal students. Mr. Jijo Mathew, Officer, CSR MALCO, Mr. M. Krishnan, Associate Manager (Mines) and Ms. Krupa, Associate Manager, CSR, MALCO, organised the event in coordination with Human Mirror Trust, an NGO in Namakkal.
Resource persons from Salem and Namakkal districts conducted training on personality development, learning skills, science and society and tribal nativity.
Apart from this competitions on singing, dancing, drawing and quiz were organised and prizes were distributed to all participants.
Study centres
For improving educational standard of tribal students at Kolli Hills, MALCO is running 10 evening study centres, through which more than 300 tribal students are being trained.
Some of the parents who were also present in this programme appreciated MALCO’s effort and also told that now their children were more interested in study.
