PUDUCHERRY: Activists of the Puducherry unit of Communist Party of India (CPI) on Friday staged a demonstration in front of the Electricity Department office at Pakkumudayanpet protesting against the “undeclared power cut” at Lawspet.

Secretary of the Puducherry unit of CPI N. Kalainathan said the government should immediately intervene to solve the problem.

The power interruption was causing undue hardship to college students who were preparing for their exams, he added.

Frequent disruption in the power supply had also affected the aged, children and ailing persons, he said.

He demanded new transformers should be installed in Lawspet, taking into account the increasing number of households in the area.
