Extending help: District Revenue Officer C. Nagarajan on Friday handing over a cheque under the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund to the family of a 7-year-old girl who was killed when a tree fell on her house at Thimmapuram. —
Krishnagiri: District Revenue Officer, C. Nagarajan, on Thursday distributed welfare aid to the tune of Rs.14.50 lakh to 51 beneficiaries at a mass contact programme held at Peruhalli village in Pochampalli taluk.
As many as 73 petitions were received by the Collector from the villagers, seeking house site pattas, drinking water facilities, old age pension, loan assistance and patta transfer.
He handed over the petitions to officials concerned for necessary action.
A review of 100 petitions on which action was taken was also held.
The main objective of mass contact camps is to make the people aware of various government schemes.
The Collector appealed to villagers to send all out-of-school children and drop outs to appropriate alternative schools and innovative education centres.
Stressing the need for construction of individual sanitary complexes the District Revenue Officer said the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) would provide funds for the same.
