CPI (M) activist stage dharna

PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry unit of Communist Party of India (Marxist) staged a dharna on Friday to urge the government to work towards abolishing untouchability and uplift of Dalits.

The party in a release said the government should plan and utilise the funds allotted under the Special Component Plan for improving the standard of life of Dalits. It called for separate reservation for Arundathiyars. Improvement of hostel facilities for Adi Dravidar students and provision of educational aid were also insisted during the protest.
