Apex court dismisses appeal against HLL
New Delhi: In a relief to HLL, now known as Hindustan Unilever, the Supreme Court has dismissed the Kerala government’s plea that sought stay on the Kerala High Court’s judgment allowing the FMCG major to register its land of which allegedly it had no title.
A Bench headed by Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan refused to interfere with the High Court’s judgment that asked the government to register the sale deed executed by HLL in favour of some individual.
However, the Bench clarified that “nothing stated in the impugned order shall be construed as approving or accepting the title of the respondent as the issue examined related to only the power of the sub-registrar to refuse registration on grounds other than those specified by law.” — PTI
