A delegation of senior Haryana officials invited to Finland CHANDIGARH: Finland and Haryana on Friday discussed possibilities of mutual cooperation in education, especially in setting up a knowledge park and a technical university besides research and development and waste management. Telecommunication and powerA Finnish delegation led by the Vice-President of Lahti University of Applied Sciences, Juhani Nieminen, met Haryana Chief Secretary Dharam Vir here. According to an official spokesman, Mr. Nieminen sought cooperation of Haryana in setting up a knowledge park and transfer of technology. He informed that education in Finland was funded by the State and the country had made tremendous progress in IT, telecommunication and power. Saying that Finland could learn from Haryana’s experience, he invited a delegation of senior Haryana officials to his country to see themselves the progress made by the Scandinavian country and explore more possibilities of mutual cooperation. While apprising the delegation of the Rajiv Gandhi Education City being set up at Kundli, Mr. Dharam Vir said it would be a centre of excellence. In case Finland proposed to set up a technology park, he added, it could be established under a policy of the Haryana Government. Waste managementHe also sought Finland’s in setting up waste management units in Haryana.
