Re-polling in Adampur today

CHANDIGARH: Re-polling will take place at polling station No. 70 at Telanwali in the Adampur constituency of the Haryana assembly on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

An official spokesman said here on Friday that the re-poll was being held under the directions of the Election Commission of India following reports of alleged casting of bogus votes in the by-election on Thursday. Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhajan Lal is seeking re-election from Adampur this time on Haryana Janhit Congress ticket.

Counting of votes will take place in the Adampur, Gohana and Indri constituencies on Sunday and the results of the by-elections are likely to be out before 12 noon. Meanwhile, the Haryana Government has appointed Ajit Balaji Joshi as the new Deputy Commissioner of Karnal in place of B. S. Malik who was ordered to be transferred on Thursday by the Election Commission of India. Rohtak Division Commissioner J. P. Kaushik and Mr. Ajit Balaji Joshi visited the counting centre for the Indri by-election on Friday and took stock of the security arrangements. They also inspected the strong room made for the electronic voting machines at the counting centre.
