Alleges malpractice by Congress candidate

GULBARGA: The Bharatiya Janata Party candidate for Gurmitkal Vittal Heroor on Friday alleged that the Congress candidate Baburao Chinchansur had indulged in malpractice during elections, and sought repolling in the constituency.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Heroor said that he had lodged a compliant with the Election Commission in this regard and appealed for repolling in the constituency.

Mr. Heroor alleged that Mr. Chinchansur used the election officials as Congress agents. Mr. Heroor alleged that Mr. Chinchansur had spread “false” news of the BJP candidate withdrawing from the contest in the constituency and asked BJP activists to work for the Congress.

‘Workers hijacked’

He charged that Mr. Chinchansur had “hijacked” BJP workers in the constituency.

He also accused the Gurmatkal Circle Police Inspector of functioning as a Congress agent.

He said the police did not take any steps to ensure free and fair polling in the constituency.
