Over 10,000 potted plants of different varieties and 30,000 cut flowers will be used About 60,000 rose seedlings will be available for sale during the festival SALEM: The sprawling lawns of Anna Park and Rose Garden in Yercaud will turn into a veritable flower garden when the curtains go up on the 33rd Yercaud Summer Festival on May 28. Over 10,000 potted plants of different varieties and 30,000 cut flowers would be used for this year’s edition of the flower show in the hill resort. A large collection of different types of orchids, anthuriums and other shade-loving foliage plants would be on display. ArrangementsThe horticulture department would make over 500 flower arrangements using cut flowers. Collector N. Mathivanan, presiding over a meeting organised to discuss about the flower show here on Thursday, said that the department was making final preparations for the show. The 8,500 and odd plants at the Rose Garden are in full bloom. Over 60,000 rose seedlings will be available for sale during the festival. The district administration had created a new lawn in 15,000 sq. ft. in the Rose Garden for the tourists to relax and enjoy the salubrious climate in Yercaud. The department had also taken up works to improve the facilities at the Anna Park. The Japanese garden in the park had also been spruced up for the festival. The department would also make towers with fruits and vegetables for the show. Senior officials were present in the meeting.
