The Reality check, “Nine scenarios for the nuclear endgame” (May 23), cleared the air with regard to the possible prospects facing the Indo-U.S. nuclear deal. The fact that the U.S. is trying its best to forward its own interest in the region using the deal as a front is alarming. India should not doubt its own capability in the nuclear field and forge ahead vis-À-vis the deal from a position of strength. Lavanya Suresh, Nilgiris Viewed in the context of India’s urgency and necessity to develop alternative energy resources to reduce import-oriented and costly dependence on fossil fuels, it is desirable that India go ahead with the nuclear deal. That will help increase the availability of relatively cheaper nuclear power. P.E. Muthu, Mumbai
