It is unfortunate that the Leander Paes – Mahesh Bhupathi row lingers. Equally unfortunate is the fact that the All-India Tennis Association has done precious little to end the cold war between the top-notch players.

It falls to the lot of only a few to get an opportunity to bring glory to the nation. Both Paes and Bhupathi did it in the past. Their split has been a great tragedy for the nation.

In a doubles team, besides individual performance, there is need for a lot of understanding and coordination between players. The AITA should end the impasse.
