AHMEDABAD: Most of the railway stations in Gujarat were converted into veritable police camps on Friday following reported threats of bomb blasts by the Pakistan-based terrorist organisation, Jaish-e-Mohammad. Intensive checking of all the passengers and important trains originating from various stations in the State were carried out by the railway protection force with the help of the local police during the day following intelligence inputs that the Pakistan-based terrorist organisation had threatened to cause serial bomb blasts in some railway stations in the State on Friday. The information was communicated to the Gujarat railway police by the north-western railway headquarters from Jaipur. The police dog squads and bomb squads were also deployed at Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Palanpur and various other stations to keep a watch on the situation. A police spokesman said security at the railway stations had been intensified since the Jaipur bomb blasts but it was further strengthened on Friday following reported threats. However, during the day-long intensified search, nothing incriminating was found.
