Guwahati: The Ministry of Defence has directed the Directorate-General (Resettlement) to coordinate with the corporate sector in preparing defence personnel for post-retirement employment. Union Minister of State for Defence M. M. Pallam Raju told journalists here that the directive had been issued as the corporate world had been evincing keen interest in recruiting more ex-servicemen. The Minister was on a visit to inaugurate the 87th defence pension adalat for ex-servicemen. “The corporate world has shown tremendous interest in recruiting more and more ex-servicemen. This is because they (the ex-servicemen) are disciplined, skilled, energetic and are very good organisers,” Mr. Raju said. He said the DG (Resettlement) has been working on creating a database of all ex-servicemen to make available to the corporate sector. The DG (Resettlement) has also taken up schemes to impart special skills to the serving defence personnel to increase their employability.
