S. Railway, CPT advance

Nagercoil: Southern Railway (Chennai) and Cochin Port Trust qualified for the semifinals in the men’s section by registering their second successive wins in Group ‘B’ in the all-India Invitation volleyball tournament here.

IOB and ICF also qualified, as both of them had registered victories over SDAT from the three-team Group ‘A’.

Armed Police (Chennai) beat Sathyabama University (Chennai) 25-23, 23-25, 25-21, 25-21 for its only win in Group ‘B’.

Thursday’s results: Men (League): Group ‘B’: Southern Railway bt Armed Police 25-18, 17-25, 18-25, 25-20, 15-6; Cochin Port Trust bt Sathyabama University (Chennai) 25-23, 25-18, 23-25, 25-22.

Women (Four-team league): Southern Railway bt PSGR Krishnammal College (Coimbatore) 25-14, 25-12, 21-25, 25-20. — Sports Correspondent
