Varanasi: Samajwadi Lohia vahini activists took out a Ganga bachao march from Luxa area here under the leadership of their city president. Scores of students and youth participated in the march and appealed to people to save the river. Amidst the beat of drums they said it is time that every citizen of the city should join hands to save the river. They said that the holy river is the identity of Varanasi and thousands of pandas, pujaris and others depend on it for their livelihood. They said that it is for the first time that the Ganga has dried up near the ghats and if sufficient water is not released from Tehri dam, the river will lose its existence.
