Demanded Rs.10,000 from rice mill owner to clear bill Caught red handed by officials of anti-corruption cell Varanasi: A senior marketing inspector of the Uttar Pradesh Food and Supply Department was caught while allegedly accepting a bribe from a rice mill owner in Jaunpur district. Police said that the SMI, Mahendra Pratap Singh, was arrested while allegedly accepting a bribe paid by a rice mill owner Rajesh Kumar Yadav. His two bills were pending for payment. While the first bill was cleared, Singh demanded a bribe of Rs.10,000 for the clearance of the second bill, they said. The rice mill owner met Deputy Superintendent of Police, Anti-Corruption Cell, Harinath Yadav in Varanasi and apprised him of the matter. The cell officials gave chemical coated currency in denomination of Rs.500. Singh called Mr. Yadav at his residence with the payment and was caught while accepting the bribe. Singh was caught red handed by the officials of the anti-corruption cell. — PTI
