SHIMLA: Subhash Ahluwalia, a senior IAS officer and former Principal Private Secretary to the then Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, was interrogated along with his wife by the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau here on Friday, a day after a series of raids on his residences in Shimla and Dharamsala. His laptop and desktop computers were also seized by the sleuths allegedly after detection of his numerous lockers at a private bank in Panchkula. The Vigilance Bureau had registered a case of disproportionate assets against Ahluwalia, widely considered the most powerful bureaucrat of the erstwhile Virbhadra regime, on Thursday and carried out a thorough examination of his bank accounts and lockers. At least 17 other bank accounts operated by him and his wife are claimed to have been uncovered so far. The officer has allegedly failed to account for about Rs.1.30 crore figuring in his accounts and purportedly could give no satisfactory explanations for his undeclared and undervalued properties. Ahluwalia is at present posted as a settlement officer in Dharamsala. His wife was the Principal of the Government College for Girls.
