CHENNAI: For students who got their Class XII results recently, making the right choices is the next big move. Engineering or medicine? B.Com, Visual Communication or journalism? How to choose a college? These are, perhaps, some of the questions that The Hindu Education Plus Fair being organised on Saturday and Sunday, in association with the University of Madras, is aimed at answering these questions. The fourth edition of the fair, being inaugurated at 9.30 a.m. at the University Centenary Auditorium, features panel discussions, presentations and interactive sessions, where senior academicians, consultants and industry experts will answer students’ queries on courses, streams of specialisation and opportunities in the industry. Following the inaugural is a pre-counselling session looking at engineering and medical admissions. This will be followed by a seminar titled ‘IT Edge’, in which experts from the IT and ITES sectors will speak on opportunities and challenges in the sector. This will be followed by a session on core engineering. Day Two of the fair will cover areas such as employability, off-beat options and overseas education. Bodhi, a company which provides assessment, counselling and training for students and professionals, will offer a psychometric test to students at the venue. The test would be offered free of cost to the first 1,000 candidates who resigter on www.bodhi.co.in. The fair is supported by lead sponsor Indian Bank. Seminar sponsors include AIMS Education for the Pre-counselling session, NIIT for the IT Edge session, Sun Australia for the Get Equipped session and Alpha Group of institutions for the session on Off-beat Options. While Airtel is the communications partner, Radio One is the radio partner and Sabols will sponsor water supplies. The gift sponsors are ITC Classmate and iCare Communication.
