Financial assistance

CHENNAI: The State government on Friday sanctioned Rs. 1 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund to the wife of late Thiagaraja Bhagavathar.

Ms. Rajambal who was given Rs 50,000 by the government in 1999 for her medical expenses wrote to Chief Minister again to help her as her financial position was very poor. Responding to her request, the Chief Minister sanctioned Rs. 1 lakh.

A cheque for the amount was personally handed over by Chennai District Collector to Ms. Rajambal at her residence in Choolaimedu here. — Special Correspondent
