Double for Saini

Coimbatore: Ashbeer Singh Saini, the 14-year-old from Kolkata, fired a one-under to emerge a clear winner in the combined class (Category ‘A’ & ‘B’) of the Southern India Lalit Suri junior golf tournament at the par-72 Coimbatore Golf Club here on Friday.

He started off with a birdie on the first hole and gathered confidence from there to shot another in the third. An eagle on the ninth saw him take the turn at four-under.

The scores: Final round: Category ‘A’ & ‘B’ (combined): 1. Ashbeer Singh Saini 302 (73, 78, 80, 71); 2. Abhijit Chadha 308 (77, 82, 74, 75); 3. S. Chikkarangappa 310 (79, 78, 77, 76). Category ‘B’: 1. Ashbeer Singh Saini 302 (73, 78, 80, 71), 2. S. Chikkarangappa 310 (79, 78, 77, 76); 3. Ajikut 321 82, 78, 80, 81). Category ‘C’: 1. Honey Baisoya 344 (85, 84, 90, 85); 2.
