34 Tigers killed, says Army

COLOMBO: The Sri Lankan Army on Saturday claimed that at least 34 LTTE cadre and a soldier were killed in fighting between the forces and the Tigers along the Forward Defence Lines (FDLs) in the last 48 hours.

Meanwhile, 36 hours after the abduction and assault of a senior journalist, the police had no clue to the identity of the culprits. Keith Noyahr, a senior editor of English weekly Nation, was abducted and released after seven hours of torture. He is undergoing treatment.
