Indus HC in last four

Dindigul: Host Indus Hockey Club entered the semifinals of the seventh annual Annai Savari Nayagam Charitable Trust Trophy State-level hockey tournament defeating Erode Hockey Club 5-0 on Saturday.

The results (Quarterfinals): Indus HC 5 (Kingston 2, Vijaya Kumar 2, Antony) bt Erode HC 0; Thirunagar HC 2 (Solai Arasu 2) bt Cholas HC Trichy 1 (Pradeep). Rajapalayam HC 5 (Murugan 2, Rajkumar 2, Selvakumar) bt BSNL, Tuticorin 0.

Tuticorin XI in final

Tuticorin District Football Association XI entered the final of the 32nd annual Vinodh Kumar memorial Trophy State-level football tournament defeating Bright Star Football Club, Tirunelveli 3-1 at Sivakasi on Saturday.

Bosco, Preston and Viji scored for the winner while Dinesh scored for Bright Star.

Easy for Rainbow

Host Rainbow Cricket Club beat Agni Cricket Club by 45 runs in the opening match of the Nayagan Trophy State-level Twenty20 cricket tournament at Seethakathi Sethupathi stadium at Ramanathapuram on Saturday.

The scores:

Rainbow CC 89 for six in 20 overs (Sakthi 25) bt Agni CC 44 in 14 overs (Ruban three for 15, Satheesh three for four).

IOB tops group

IOB beat Integral Coach Factory, Chennai, 23-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-16 for its second win to top the three-team group ‘A’ league, and Southern Railway, Chennai, beat Cochin Port Trust 25-20, 25-16, 25-10 for its third win and to top the four-team group ‘B’ league in the all-India invitation volleyball tournament organised by Kanyakumari District Volleyball Association at Anna stadium, Nagercoil, on Friday.

However, all these four-teams will figure in the semifinals and the line-up will be IOB vs. Cochin Port Trust and Southern Railway vs. ICF.
