Overwhelming response: People throng Chief Minister’s road shows in Mahabubnagar on Saturday. Mahabubnagar: There was overwhelming response to the road shows under taken by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Saturday in Jadcherla the lone Assembly constituency in the district going to bypolls on May 29. Though Chief Minister was over 45 minutes behind his schedule to start his road show from Navabpet mandal headquarters people thronged in large numbers braving the scorching sun. Turn up was similar at Hanwada, Thimmajupet, Badepally, Jadcherla and Balanagar mandal headquarter where he ended his road show. Mr. Reddy reiterated and listed out all the developmental and welfare programmes initiated and introduced by his government in the last four years. He also touched local issues in his speeches. The Chief Minister mainly referred to the issue of fourth lift under Kalwakurthy lift irrigation scheme. He said that the opposition parties have no moral right in asking votes. In fact this issue has become burning topic in ongoing by elections to Jadcherla, while the opposition parties are stating from top of the roofs that Mr. Reddy has kept fourth lift of KLI in cold storage. At Hanwada mandal headquarters the Chief Minister assured that Koilsagar water scheme would be taken up to supply drinking and irrigation water to the villages of Hanwada mandal after the award from Krishna water dispute tribunal is granted. At Bhootpoor mandal headquarters the Chief Minister said that free power to the agriculture pump sets would continue in the State as long as Congress party is in power. At Badepally and Jadcherla he assailed the recently resigned TRS legislator Laxma Reddy and who is in the fray from TRS for his poor performance during the last four years. CategorisationChief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy said that the Centre would take appropriate decision on categorisation of Scheduled Caste basing on the report of Usha Mehra Commission which was submitted recently by her. He was speaking to press persons at Bijinepally mandal headquarters on Saturday. When asked about the proposed hike of petroleum products, he said that the Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh as announced that alternative ways are being examined to avoid hike and added that the centre was put in all efforts to contain the rising inflation in the country.
