I have not violated poll code: Naidu

Staff Reporter

KCR accused of causing third-time byelection to Karimnagar Lok Sabha seat

‘TRS neglecting Babli project, issues of Gulf returnees, weavers’

‘Hike in prices of petroleum products will lead to more inflation’

JAGTIAL (KARIMNAGAR DT): Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu asserted on Saturday that he had not violated the model code in his campaign in Jadcherla Assembly constituency of Mahbubnagar district recently.

“I did not use mike or address the meeting beyond the 10 p.m. deadline. I only went to have my dinner in a private farm house,” Mr. Naidu maintained.

Talking to reporters here before launching his second phase of electioneering in the Karimnagar parliamentary constituency, Mr. Naidu said that he would give his explanation and present facts to the Election Commission (EC).

He alleged that the Congress leaders, who were facing the wrath of the EC for violating election code, had lodged a false complaint against him.

Scathing attack

Launching a scathing attack against Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) president K. Chandrashekhar Rao for causing byelections three times in a row to Karimnagar parliamentary constituency and burdening the common man, he alleged that the TRS was concerned about only facing the elections. It was neglecting the burning issues of the region such as illegal construction of Babli and 10 other irrigation projects across the Godavari by the Maharashtra Government, rehabilitation of Gulf returnees and the plight of weavers.

Promises loan waiver

The TDP president announced that the party would include waiver of all loans in its manifesto for the General Elections and called upon people not to repay any loans.

Demanding the Union government to waive all the crop loans and reimburse loans already paid by the farmers, he said the Centre must lend clarity to the issue as the Reserve Bank of India had not issued any guidelines.

Criticising the move to hike prices of petroleum products, he expressed the fear that it would only fuel the galloping inflation.
