MURDER MYSTERY: More than a week after Aarushi Talwar’s brutal murder and a day after her father’s arrest, the mystery remains. LUCKNOW: A day after the dramatic arrest of Dr. Rajesh Talwar in Noida for his alleged involvement in the sensational murder of his 14-year-old daughter Aarushi and the family’s domestic help Hemraj, the “mysterious” nature of the crime continues to raise many questions. While the Noida police maintained over the weekend that they had moved in the right direction, the mention of the name of one “Dinesh Varma” by Dr. Talwar after his arrest on Friday has rendered the whodunit even more complex. The name was reportedly mentioned by Dr. Talwar when he was being produced in court following his arrest. The seasoned dentist alleged that he was being framed by Dinesh. Incidentally Dinesh is also the name of Dr. Talwar’s elder brother, but his surname should also logically be Talwar. Expressing surprise that there was someone by the name of Dinesh Varma, Senior Superintendent of Police (Noida) Satish Ganesh said on Saturday: “I came to know about this name from media reports. Why would someone named Dinesh Varma try to frame Dr. Talwar in the case? It is on the basis of circumstantial evidence that the police were able to crack the case and all the evidence points to Dr. Talwar’s involvement in the crime.” Since the doctor’s arrest on Friday, the Noida police and the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force have been accused of cooking up a story to frame Dr. Talwar in the sensational crime. The SSP said it was practically difficult to gather all the evidence pertaining to a crime of such a complex nature within a period of six days and that investigations were still very much under way. As to whether Dr. Talwar is innocent as claimed by his family and lawyer, Mr. Ganesh said: “Which accused would plead guilty?” The police officer vehemently denied that the case was worked out under media pressure.
