HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy has reacted sharply to the remarks of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president K. Chandrasekhara Rao that the Telangana issue hung like a Damocles’ sword over his head. In a statement here on Saturday, he said that Mr. Rao had caused this sword to imperil the development of Telangana.“I would have tolerated it if it hung over my head,” he remarked. Dr. Reddy described the TRS as “an anti-development party” and said that it was unfortunate that Mr. Chandrasekhara Rao was taking revenge on the region’s poor by stopping development in the region. He said that the TRS president was using the people of Telangana as a pawn for his political aspirations. He questioned as to what right the TRS president has to go for elections at his whims and fancies. Wasted timeDr. Reddy, who is on a tour of Mahabubnagar district electioneering for the party candidate in Jadcherla constituency, interacted with leaders from the region in wake of the remarks made by the TRS chief. He said that, in the name of byelections, nine valuable months had been wasted in the last two years by the TRS leaders.
