Fabulous feat: Medicine stream topper Gopishetty Raghu celebrates with mother in Hyderabad on Saturday. Engineering topper Gangineni Lokesh unable to hide his glee. HYDERABAD: Gangineni Lokesh of Sri Chaitanya Educational Institutions took the first rank in the engineering stream while Gopishetty Raghu of Narayana College bagged the first rank in the medicine stream of the EAMCET-2008. There was some confusion with Sri Vaishnavi College claiming Raghu to be their student. However, later the Narayana College Academic Director clarified that Sri Vaishnavi College was taken over by the Narayana group last year. But Raghu appeared at the Narayana group’s press conference later and admitted that he was part of the Narayana group and their coaching helped him to get the top rank in his second attempt. He got 1,905 rank last year. The top five rankers in the engineering stream include Gangineni Lokesh (Sri Chaitanya), Arjun Agarwal (Sri Chaitanya), Musku Durgaprasad Reddy (Narayana), Suggala Arun Sai (Sri Chaitanya) and Mohd Ali Mirza (from Warangal). In the medicine stream, the top five include Gopishetty Raghu (Narayana), G. Rahul Sai (Narayana), Sri Rama Lakshmi Neeharika, Gattu Tharun and Rajasri Jalla (all from Sri Chaitanya). Interestingly, the top three in the medicine stream got 158 marks each, but since Raghu got more marks in Biology, he was awarded the first rank. Rahul and Neeharika got same marks in all the subjects so they had to share the third rank. The 4th and 5th rankers got 157 marks each, but the same logic applied to their ranks. Topper in the engineering stream, Lokesh secured 159 marks while Arjun got 158 to take the second spot. Third and fourth rankers got 157 marks each. CommitmentSpeaking to The Hindu, B. S. Rao, Chairman of the Sri Chaitanya Educational Institutions said that Sri Chaitanya proved its supremacy once again in the engineering stream bagging five ranks in the top 10, including 1st, 2nd, 4th and 8th ranks. He said they got 48 ranks below 100 in engineering and 67 below 100 in the medicine stream. He attributed the success to students and teachers’ commitment. The Narayana group Chairman P. Narayana said they got five ranks in the top 10 in the medicine stream and 27 below 100. In the engineering stream, they got 41 ranks below 100 including 3rd, 6th and 9th ranks. He said focused coaching had helped them in their success.
